Meet Melanie Harper and her MP Sporthorses

Melanie Harper fell in love with horses at a young age in her hometown of Cos Cob, CT. She received her BS in Animal Science from the University of Vermont in 2008. She started a career in dairy breeding which led her to pursue her passion in breeding Dutch Warmblood sport horses. In 2013, she started MP Sporthorses, a breeding, training, and sales facility to create trainable and athletic young horses any amateur or professional can enjoy.

Melanie had a successful 2021 show season in both breed events and recognized dressage shows. Some of the highlights include winning the Breeders Group at Dressage at Devon, as well as Reserve Grand Champion in the Breeders Finals at Dressage at Devon among a very competitive group of young horses.

All throughout her training, riding and breeding career Melanie has supported IRH. In her high school days, she decided to make a change, switched to IRH, and has never looked back.
